Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Define place values and identify the place values of numbers.
ii. Write numbers in words up to trillion
iii. Write numbers in figures
iv. Ordering of numbers in ascending and descending orders.

Content :
whole numbers are numbers without decimal point. Large numbers are separated with comma by [grouping them in three’s into families of thousand, millions, billions and trillion.

6 = 6 Trillions = 6,000,000,000,000
5, 9, 4 = Billions family (Five hundred and ninety four billion)
2,1, 3 = Millions family (Two hundred and thirteen million)
4, 7, 9 = Thousand family ( Four hundred and seventy nine)
6, 8, 5 = Hundred, Tens and Unit.
Read and write the following numbers in Figures using vertical arrangement.
- One billion, seventy three thousand and five hundred.
- Eight hundred and five million, four thousand, four hundred and nine
- Seven trillion, four hundred billion, eight hundred and sixty million, two hundred and fifty five thousand, three hundred and twelve.
Read aand write the following numbers in words :

Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous class Lesson with the learners by asking questions.
Step 2: He introduces the new Lesson topic by describing whole numbers and identify the place values of numbers.
Step 3 : He then explains further that the numbers can be grouped in three’s according to thousands, millions, billions and Trillions.
Step 4 : He then explains and teach them how to read and write numbers in words.
Step 5 : He works out several examples and guides the learners on writing of numbers in figures by arranging them vertically.
ASSESSMENT / EVALUATION :

- Write in figures : Five hundred billion, six million, thirty four thousand, nine hundred and eighty.
Conclusion / Wrap up : The teacher marks the learners Note and makes necessary corrections. He then summarizes the lesson for a better understanding.
