ii. Mention some of our duties as citizens.

Content :
Why We Study Civic Education.
Civic Education helps the citizens to understand government and to know their rights and duties as members of the society.
As citizens there are many things the government must do for us to live peacefully.
We must also perform our duties so that the government can function well.
Examples of fundamental Human Rights.
1. Right to life
2. Right to be educated
3. Right to vote and be voted for.
4. Freedom of speech.
5. Freedom of movement
Some of our duties as citizens
1. Payment of our tax.
2. Be loyal to your country.
3.Obedience to laws. That is obey rules and regulations.
4. Protection of government properties
Reasons why we study Civic Education.
1. To understand the government.
2. To acquire Civic skills that will make us responsible in the society.
3. To know our fundamental human right.
4. To participate in Civic matters.
5. To acquire positive values, e.g. Honesty, humility, Obedience, cooperation, etc.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic to the learners by explaining why we study Civic Education.
Step 3 : State the fundamental human rights and duties of the citizens.
Step 4 : Mention reasons why we study Civic Education.
Evaluation : Teacher evaluates the lesson by asking the following questions.
1. Mention the reasons why we study Civic Education.
2. Mention four duties of citizens in the society.
3. State five fundamental human rights.
Conclusion : At the end of the lesson, the learners were able to answer the questions correctly. The teacher marks their notebooks and makes corrections where necessary.
