Instructional Material : Chart showing numbers in expanded form and writing in words as well as in figures.
Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Identify place value of numbers;
ii. Write in expanded forms and in words
iii. Write in figures up to thousand.
Content :
Writing in words:
When writing in words,
1. First assign place value to the given number.
2. Then call each digit with the value assigned starting from left hand to the right hand side.
3. Count the number serially and put a comma after the hundreds.
4. Call the numbers together that is, Tens of thousand and thousand.
For examples:

Writing in figures:
When writing in figures, write them in groups :
i. Write the thousands;
ii. The hundreds and
iii. The tens and units
iv. Add them after.
For examples :
Write the following numbers in figures:
1. Five thousand, two hundred and sixteen. = 5 0 0 0 + 2 0 0 + 1 6
= 5, 2 1 6
2. Twenty-seven thousand, nine hundred and three = 2 7, 0 0 0 + 9 0 0 + 3
= 2 7, 9 0 3
3. Nine thousand, and five. = 9, 000 + 5
= 9, 005
Presentation Step :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners.
Step 2 : He/ she introduces the new lesson Topic by explaining writing of numbers in words.
Step 3 : He / she then explain writing in figures to the learners and work some examples.
Step 4 : The teacher then gives the learners some tasks to do on write in figures and write in words.
